What checks are carried out on your cleaners?
Here at Selclene Twickenham this is a question I am often asked.
First of all, we are looking for a referral. Many of our newest cleaners have worked for other agencies, or for individual home owners.
We often will contact previous employers for a reference, but we will also do our own checks too.
We check proof of identity by requiring a passport, birth certificate or some other form of ID, so we know they are who they say they are.
We also require proof of address, such as a gas bill or telephone bill, so we know they do live at the address they give us.
When checks are complete, we give the cleaner a couple of small jobs (under supervision) to complete, before allowing them to work full time with one of our clients.
After the initial training period, providing all is satisfactory, we introduce them to the client.
Sometimes, after a week or two, we will call the client to make sure that they are happy with the cleaner and that they are fulfilling the role specified, that they are on time and understand what is required.
